Proposal for the new identity of the annual journal of the National School of Architecture of Versailles
Title : Versailles Rive Gauche
Statement
Versailles Rive Gauche is a journal published annually by the National School of Architecture of Versailles (ENSA-V) and co-published by Archibooks + Sautereau publishers.
For this first publication, the main theme is "the logic of life."
Its content is open and its design encourages debate.
The structure of the model is defined by a grid of 4 modular columns.
A simple and strong bias led us to treat English at the same level as French: the texts are opposite each other, a color code distinguishes them and thus offers a mirrored form.
The choice of colors is oriented towards a sober color chart (black, pale yellow) which matches a second more contrasting one (blue, red).
The typographic choice for the articles was an Elzévir-type font with triangular serifs: ITC Garamond Book. Simple, fluid, and elegant, it is highly readable.
The typographic choice for the titles was a very sober, Antique sans-serif type font: TStar Pro / tstar Pro.
Strong and impactful in its Headline form or lighter and more discreet in its Bold form.
The images will be in color, black and white, and in the case of pages treated in solid color, a corresponding two-tone process will be applied.
The choice for the cover proposal is based on the principle of juxtaposing bilingual texts. The modular layout for strong graphic effects unfolds on the grid. A full-format visual illustrates the main subject of the issue. The design is based on the treatment of impactful typographic characters and on careful post-printing work (selective varnish, screen printing, embossing).
This set will allow us to draw a coherent graphic line and a collection principle over the issues.
